The Tammin Primary School Council has been formed with the fundamental purpose of enabling parents and members of the community to engage in activities that are in the best interest of students and that will enhance the education provided in the school.

The Council meets twice a Term in the the school multi-purpose room. Parents that are not currently on the School Council are also welcome to attend the meetings as observers.

The Council Constitution supports a parent majority in the membership, with staff members also elected. The school's P&C also have a representative on the Council. Formal elections occur in February each year.

The School Council takes part in establishing, and reviewing from time to time the school's objectives, priorities and general policy directions. The Council assists in evaluating the school's performance, and assists the planning of financial arrangements necessary to fund those objectives, priorities and directions. It promotes the school in the community, and participates in formulating codes of conduct for student at Tammin Primary School.

The School Education Act 1999 and the School Education Regulations 2000 are the definitive documents guiding the formation and conduct of the Tammin Primary School's Council. For more information refer to the Department's Regulatory Framework at School Council Guidelines
